Behaviour Consequences

BEHAVIOUR CONSEQUENCES

TYPE OF BEHAVIOUR

CONSEQUENCES

Persistent low level disruption

Lack of equipment, lateness to lessons, non-completion of homework, failure to stay in seat, shouting out, flicking, throwing, lack of response, distracting others, being easily distracted, answering back, taking others’ belongings

Normally verbal warning, then conduct mark, followed by pink slip

In the first instance, the class teacher will follow up any instances of low level disruption before referring the student on to the Head of Year/Department (HOY/HOD).  This may be by moving the student within the classroom setting or giving detention

Conduct marks will be monitored by Form Tutors (FTs) and HOYs.  A pupil who reaches five conduct marks will normally be placed on FT report.  If problems persist, the pupil will be referred to HOY.

Conflict with peers (refer to bullying guidelines)

Persistent incidents of bullying (physical or verbal).

Horseplay with other pupils/ interfering with others eg shoulder barging on corridors, leg ups, jumping on other students, tripping up other students, pulling ties.

Name calling and swearing at other students.

Fighting

This will be dealt with in line with the bullying policy and could result in fixed-term or permanent exclusion.

This will be initially dealt with by verbal warnings, time spent in the supervised study unit, notifying parents.  Depending on severity, this may even lead to fixed term exclusion.

Referral to FT/HOY.  This may result in time spent in the supervised study unit.

This will automatically carry a period of fixed-term exclusion.  Usually of one day in the first instance.  The school does not accept arguments of self-defence in such instances. Students are advised to walk away and report provocation.  Students should be aware that parents may well involve Police.  This itself could lead to serious consequences.
