Anti-Bullying Policy Continued
- Form teachers' Heads of Year and all staff should record, monitor and pass on any information about incidents of bullying, following the school referral system.
- Parents should be encouraged to inform school of all incidents of bullying of which they are made aware. All incidents will be investigated.
- Mutual respect must be encouraged and staff and pupils must make anti-bullying a whole school issue that is seen as important and acted upon.
- Pupils should be encouraged not to ‘ suffer in silence’ and let staff know of any incidence either face to face or anonymously.
- The Code of Conduct and subsequent reviews should be given high profile in school through form/year time and should be constantly reinforced.
- Special care and attention will be given to those who bully and every effort made to educate them so that they come to see the unacceptability of their behaviour.
- Staff and prefects are aware that bullying happens in areas which are unsupervised and that they should be vigilant for this when on duty.
- Pupils and staff need to be aware that all reports of bullying will be looked into and sanctions will be enforced if incidents are found to be proven. (Refer to Behaviour consequences)
- Students will be recognised for challenging bullying where it is found and promoting an anti-bullying environment.
Conclusion
Many children describe bullying as ‘making my life hell’. This concept has no place in a Christian community and will be dealt with accordingly.
This policy should be read in conjunction with the Pastoral Care and Pupil Behaviour and Discipline policies
